1. The Passing of a Legend: Kanchha Sherpa, the Last of the 1953 Pioneers
In October 2025, the mountaineering world bid a fond farewell to Kanchha Sherpa, who passed away at the age of 92.

. Last surviving member of the historic 1953 British Mount Everest expedition, Kanchha played a vital role in Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay ascent to the summit. He did not have the opportunity to attend school. Kanchha helped carry 60 pounds of gear, including vital cooking stoves, up the treacherous slopes

2. Kami Rita Sherpa’s 32nd Summit

Redefining human endurance, the 55-year-old mountaineer reached the summit in May 2026, of Mount Everest for an astonishing 32nd time, breaking his own world record. Kami Rita first climbed Everest in 1994 and has dedicated his life to guiding others safely up and down the mountain..

4. A Teenage Ninja : Nima Rinji Sherpa scales 14 Peaks
At just 18, Nima Rinji Sherpa made global headlines in October 2024 by becoming the youngest person ever to summit all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks.
Hailing from a family of legendary climbers, Nima Rinji began his extraordinary journey at the age of 16, venturing into the “death zone” where most seasoned climbers struggle. .
5. Four Summits in 15 Days: Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa
In the spring of 2025, 29-year-old Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa he summited Mount Everest four times in just 15 days.. Starting on May 9 as part of a rope-fixing team, Tashi returned to the top on May 14, 19, and 23, setting a new Guinness World Record.
6. A Hero in the Death Zone: Gelje Sherpa’s Daring Rescue

These drones successfully transported hundreds of kilograms of garbage—and vital climbing equipment—between Base Camp and Camp 1, drastically reducing the physical burden on the Icefall Doctors and Sherpas
9. Defying Age: Valery Babanov’s Quest Without Oxygen
Mountaineering knows no age limit. In 2025, 59-year-old Russian alpinist Valery Babanov set out to become the oldest person to summit Mount Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen.
